A Very Dressagy Christmas!

Like most horse people, I tend to get a lot of gifts geared toward my horse-habit. This year was no exception!

First up, I joined in Fly on Over's awesome Blogger Secret Santa program. My Secret Santa was the awesome Karen from Bakersfield Dressage! She sent me a huge box, complete with festive wrapping paper and an incredibly sweet card. (Karen! I think the card was my favorite part!! Thanks so much!)

Christmas in a box!!
Karen's a fellow dressage person, but she's just starting to experiment with the outside world of "color." I'm still pretty conservative, and she nailed it by getting us a nice black saddle pad and a set of lovely white polo wraps! I can't wait to debut everything at a clinic or a show. Pig looks lovely in white wraps, but the pair I have for him are way to big. This pair are the perfect size!

At family Christmas, my husband and my mother went together and ended up getting me the expensive Weymouth I talked about in this post. I'm so excited about this gift. I can't wait until Pig is back working well enough to introduce it and see how he does!

Now I just have to decide on a bradoon.... help?!

  1. How awesome! I love useful horsey presents!
For your bradoon, I'd pick something that is similar to your snaffle bridle's bit, just a thinner version. You work mostly off the snaffle rein anyway, and engage the curb when you need it.

    1. I'm running across the problem that the only version of a double jointed eggbutt bradoon is $200. Crazy!

    2. That's how horsey items go! The one you need is way expensive!

  3. I did the same thing as Codex- basically the same bit as I have in my snaffle, but a little thinner. Honestly, I'd spend the more money if that's reasonable because it will make Guinness happier in the long run and you'll have that bit forever. You can sell it when you're done with it to to recoup some money.... Good luck finding the right one!

    1. Good to know! Pig goes in an eggbutt snaffle, but the double jointed eggbutt bradoon choices are super limited. I'm hoping he'll be okay with a loose ring.

  4. D'aww your dog is adorable! Love dressage-y Christmas presents! I didn't get many this year (just a pair of breeches) because I'm between horses but maybe next year... Definitely my favorite kind of presents.

    1. Breeches are always a welcome present! I actually had a pretty horse-light Christmas, as opposed to some other Christmases. Other than putting together Pig's double, we don't need anything!
